Bahato” is the first single by the Podlachian artists, but also a meeting beyond musical and linguistic borders. It’s a new stage in the career of Sw@da - a Polish-Colombian producer, nominated for the Fryderyk Award for last year’s album “SAD”, recorded with Karolina Cicha.
In his music, he combines the influences of both cultures, mixing Podlachian and Latino sounds. Here, reggaeton meets traditional singing, folk instruments and rap to recall the universal truth of street music: difficult conditions will never stop you from living rich.
This is what Niczos (a vocalist known from Hajda Bajda/ Гайда Банда) sings about and Maxim (a musician with whom Sw@da developed a unique symbiotic relationship, juxtaposing their contrasting voice tones, flows and dialects on the background of the characteristic Caribbean rhythm) raps about. “Bahato” is one of the first attempts to introduce the Podlachian microlanguage to the world of hiphop. This language, although often associated with folk songs, is still alive and present among the residents of the historical region of Podlasie.
The trio is now working on their EP that will be released by the music label Tańce, promoting modern Polish music rooted in club and folk sounds. Soon, everyone in Poland will know what it means to live rich, in the Podlachian style!
