In spring, you will be woken up by folk music at its best - Folk and Traditional Music Festival ETHNIESY in Bydgoszcz. Right now, book some time between 18 and 21 March 2021. If we are not able to meet face-to-face, we will certainly see and hear each other online.
This will be the 8th edition of one of the greatest folk music festivals in Poland. The most interesting performers, presenting different faces of folk music, will perform in the City Culture Centre in Bydgoszcz.
This festival is not only for the fans of typical folk sounds, which was proved during the previous editions of the event. Also this year the organizer, the City Culture Centre in Bydgoszcz, with Dominka Kiss-Orska leading, invite you to travel the extremely colourful and diverse music world, where folklore is inflected in all possible ways.
We had to wait a long time for this event. Due to the pandemic, the festival didn’t take place in the spring 2020, but everything that could not sound then, will sound on stage in March 2021.
During the four festival days, from 18 to 21 March, the following artists will perform among others: Polmuz, Lumpeks, Radical Polish Ansambl, Michał Górczyński and Buba Badjie Kuyateh. The last mentioned, born in Gambia, comes from a griot family and he is a real kora (West African harp) virtuoso.
The festival will end with a concert of Monodia Polska, who will present some extraordinary religiousand secular songs, conveyed in the oral tradition.
There are also numerous accompanying events planned, such as singers meeting with the Academy of Voices of Tradition or painting exhibition (Paulina Karpowicz and Monika Marchewka).
